Munters Tech Tales: Hayley Ginn

Nov 6, 2024

Meet Hayley Ginn, a Munters MTech Team Lead. Her story highlights the value of curiosity, adaptability, and a genuine commitment to helping others succeed.

Hayley Ginn has been with Munters MTech, a market leader in food supply chain optimization software providing AI-powered analysis and actionable insights, for eight years. With MTech, she's been building a career at the intersection of technology and agriculture, using innovative tools to improve sustainability and animal welfare as well as operational efficiency.

Early interest in tech

Hayley‘s path into the tech world started early, influenced by her mother’s career as a consultant. “We always had computers at home, even before it was common,” she recalls. This early exposure sparked an interest in learning new software and tools. By the time she was at university, she was gaining hands-on experience through internships, like the one at AGCO, where she rolled out a CRM system for their sales team.

After completing her master’s degree at the University of Alabama, Hayley discovered an opportunity at MTech through a family friend who had been a long-time customer of the company. "He knew about my passion for travel and working with people, so he suggested I explore a role at MTech”, she explains.

Growing into leadership

Hayley started as a project consultant at MTech, working directly with customers to implement software solutions. A year into her role, she found a niche in rolling out financial modules. The leadership team at MTech recognized her skills and gave her the opportunity to lead her own team. “I built a small finance team where we focused on rolling out those modules for customers. That’s where my leadership journey really took off,” she shares.

Today, she manages a team of eight, overseeing multiple projects at a time. The job takes her all over the world, visiting rural areas where agriculture thrives. “People think being a consultant means trips to big cities like New York or Chicago, but we’re traveling to rural places where agriculture happens,” she explains. “One day you’re sitting with executive leadership, and the next, you’re helping someone key in data at a plant.”

Managing change and building trust

One of the biggest challenges Hayley has encountered throughout her career isn’t the technology itself, but guiding people through the process of adapting to it. “Change is hard for everyone, and it’s natural for people to feel hesitant when new systems are introduced,” she says. A key part of Hayley’s role is to help clients understand that these changes are not about making their jobs harder, but rather about improving workflows and creating new opportunities.

“Seventy-five percent of the job is about managing emotions and helping people feel comfortable with the transition,” she explains. Hayley works closely with clients to ease concerns and highlight how new systems can empower them to shift from routine tasks to more analytical, high-value work. "It’s about building trust and helping teams see the benefits, so they feel supported and confident in the process.”

A focus on sustainability

In her work, she also champions sustainability. Known as the “paper police” in her field, she has been pushing to minimize unnecessary printing in an industry that still relies heavily on paper. “The poultry industry uses so much paper. I’m always the one suggesting digital solutions instead,” she laughs. Her efforts aren’t just about saving paper; they reflect a broader commitment to more efficient, sustainable practices in agriculture.

Mentorship and teamwork

Hayley credits much of her growth to strong mentorship. Early in her career, a mentor from her AGCO internship encouraged her to focus on what she enjoyed about her work - traveling, training people, and problem-solving—rather than chasing job titles. This advice has shaped her career decisions, helping her find roles that align with her passions.

Now, as a leader herself, Hayley works to create the same supportive environment for her team. “One of the most rewarding parts of my job is seeing my team earn the trust of our customers,” she says. “It’s not just about me - it’s about all of us working together.”

MTech’s largest software roll-out ever

One of Hayley’s proudest achievements is her work on a project with a giant local US based food-giant. It was a long-term partnership she helped oversee from the sales process through implementation which just finished ahead of schedule. “We’ve built a strong relationship with the customer over the years. Seeing how much they trust us now is a huge win,” she says.
