Heat recovery from data centers
Data centers produce substantial heat, which can be repurposed to benefit local communities. In Odense, Denmark, Munters supported a social technology company to transform waste heat into municipal heating. By capturing heat from server halls and transferring it to a central heat pump, the facility generates 165,000 MWh annually – enough to warm 11,000 homes and businesses.
This initiative highlights how data centers can enhance energy efficiency and sustainability. Munters' Oasis™ systems reduce energy use by up to 80%, while operating entirely on renewable energy to lower the carbon footprint. As policies increasingly mandate waste heat capture, projects like this demonstrate the potential for data centers to serve communities and promote sustainability.
