From a backyard lab in Stockholm to a carbon capture breakthrough in Norway
The story of Munters begins eight kilometers north of Stockholm city. Here, in a residential area called Stocksund, Carl Munters and his team laid the foundation for a company that soon became a global leader in climate control.

Tackling cement's carbon challenge
Cement production is a major contributor to global CO₂ emissions due to the decomposition of limestone during manufacturing. At Norcem's plant in Brevik, Norway, a pioneering carbon capture facility aims to reduce emissions by 400,000 tons annually—cutting the plant's emissions by 50%.
Munters is supplying critical gas-liquid separation equipment for this project, including advanced mist eliminators and knock-out drums, to efficiently manage condensate during CO₂ compression and liquefaction stages.
Jing Jin, Vice President of Clean Technologies at Munters, highlights the company's role: "We are a leader in our field. We can tailor our solutions to meet the needs of our customers and we are good at collaborating and co-developing with our partners.”

A partnership for the planet
This initiative aligns with Munters mission: For customer success and a healthier planet. By supporting industries that are hard to abate, the company contributes to global sustainability efforts.
Munters journey from a small backyard lab in Sweden to a key player in global carbon capture projects is a testament to our commitment to innovation and sustainability. As we celebrate our 70th anniversary, we look forward to continuing this legacy and driving success for our customers worldwide.
