Expert rotor solutions

Desiccant rotors may look similar, but the difference in performance is vast. That’s why Munters engineered a rotor with a higher water adsorption rate and more consistent performance, regardless of the rotor speed. The result? Increased energy efficiency, a smaller physical footprint and reduced operating costs.

The Munters difference

Humidity control is vital for many industrial processes, and desiccant dehumidification is considered the most effective method. Most dehumidifiers look the same, but what sets them apart is the desiccant wheel – the heart of the system. This critical dehumidifier component efficiently removes moisture from the air.

Other makes of desiccant material and rotor design may look similar to Munters, but their performance differs vastly. The Munters desiccant rotor and materials meet demands for high water-adsorption capacity and low energy consumption.

Here’s how Munters desiccant media performs against other media. Test results show dehumidification performance across relative humidity levels covering standard operating conditions. Munters desiccant media consistently outperformed all others.

Munters media adsorbed more moisture faster than all other media without approaching saturation point. Munters media offers unmatched dehumidification performance, regardless of the conditions or rotor speed.

How it works

Munters industrial desiccant dehumidification systems remove moisture from the air using a desiccant, a material that easily attracts and holds water vapor.

At the heart of the dehumidifier is a patented desiccant rotor made of corrugated non-metallic, ceramic composite material. Air passes through the flutes of the material, contacting the desiccant. The process air that leaves the wheel is dry. The moisture-laden wheel rotates slowly into a second smaller, heated airstream.

This smaller exhaust airstream, known as reactivation air, warms the desiccant. The warmed desiccant releases the moisture it adsorped into the reactivation air. The newly dried desiccant material rotates back into the process air, where it again adsorbs moisture.

Choose the right rotor for your process

Munters is a global leader in energy efficient air treatment solutions and has experience of over 300,000 installations worldwide and continues to set the world’s standard for desiccant wheel production. With own multiple desiccant wheel production facilities worldwide, Munters provide a wide range of desiccant options and have obtained more than 250 patents in desiccant technology.
