Optimized liquid cooling at scale
The new Munters LCX Coolant Distribution Unit is engineered for demanding large-scale liquid cooled data centers. It accurately controls the technology coolant flow and temperature, while also providing particulate removal down to 25 microns at 99.98% efficiency.
Currently available in sizes from 500 kW to 1.5 MW, including a novel capability to stack units to reduce floor space, the LCX is built for long-term performance and easy maintenance. Service access on standard models is exclusively from the front, allowing CDU's to be installed side-by-side with only 1" (25mm) spacing between. The Munters LCX supports heat rejection from single-phase cold plates, in-rack CDUs, immersion pod heat exchangers, and more, providing a future-proof liquid cooling solution for next-generation data centers.
How it works
The Munters LCX serves as the critical interface between the Facility Fluid (FF), typically chilled water, and the Technology Fluid (TF), commonly a water/25% propylene glycol blend with inhibitors. The LCX regulates the TF supply temperature, pressure, and flow delivered to liquid-cooled servers.
Utilizing a high-performance brazed plate heat exchangers constructed with stainless steel plates and copper brazing, the LCX units condition Technology Fluid to deliver optimal cooling while maintaining complete isolation from Facility Fluid. This family of liquid-to-liquid CDUs can integrate with cold plates, rack-mounted CDUs, or immersion cooling pods.
Fully redundant units, each powered from an external UPS backed source, must be piped to a common Technology Fluid circuit to provide redundancy and ensure continuous operation.

From 99.98% efficient 25-micron TF filtration to industrial-grade pumps, control valves, and state-of-the-art sensors, every component is optimized to ensure seamless operation in liquid-cooled data center environments. Constructed of robust materials including all stainless-steel technology fluid piping and components (excludes brass PRV) fully compatible with Dowfrost LC25 and other common PG blends, the LCX is built for long life and ease of maintenance.
