Remove polluting solvents for a healthier environment
Emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOC) contribute to ground-level smog, posing risks to the health of your employees and the community. Together, Munters and Airprotech, a proud part of Munters, offer the market’s most comprehensive range of VOC abatement solutions that provide reliable, energy-efficient and cost-saving solutions for removing solvents from the air.
VOCs are emitted by industrial chemicals, solvents, alcohols, and petroleum products, such as gasoline, which produce vapors at room temperature. When released, they combine with existing nitrous oxides, in the presence of sunlight and heat, to form atmospheric ozone, or “smog.”
For high-volume, low-concentration VOCs, our integrated concentrator/oxidizer system combines the Munters Zeolite Rotor and an Airprotech thermal oxidizer to reduce air volume and energy use before destruction. For direct VOC destruction, Airprotech offers a complete range of thermal oxidizer systems that ensure reliable neutralization with high thermal recovery. Together, Munters and Airprotech provide comprehensive VOC control for sustainable operations and help deliver clean air to the world.

Munters Zeolite VOC abatement technology
The basic molecular structure of zeolite is a tetrahedron, formed by silicon oxides (SiO₄). Each tetrahedron has one silicon atom at the center and oxygen atoms at its corners, linked by shared oxygen atoms. These linked tetrahedra form pores, whose sizes are determined by the number of linked molecules.
The pore size, influenced by the crystal structure and alkali ions present, determines which VOCs can be adsorbed. Munters Zeol VOC abatement systems use a combination of hydrophobic zeolites with varying pore sizes, enabling the adsorption of a wide range of organic solvents, including most commercially available solvents.
Zeolite pores capture VOCs using van der Waals forces, holding the compounds until they are released upon heating. This process concentrates VOCs into a smaller airstream, reducing the volume of air that requires treatment. As a result, our VOC concentrator system requires a smaller thermal oxidizer compared to traditional regenerative thermal oxidation systems. The smaller oxidizer not only reduces energy consumption but also lowers capital investment, saving you money upfront while maintaining high efficiency.
Munters solutions:

How a Munters VOC concentrator works
Process air enters the system, particles are filtered out and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are absorbed by a zeolite rotor. A process fan pulls the air through the rotor, releasing clean air. Meanwhile, a heated air stream removes and concentrates VOCs, regenerating the rotor for continuous VOC absorption. Ultimately, the concentrated VOCs are directed to a thermal oxidizer for safe destruction.
