Key benefits
Heathrow Airport, Europe's busiest with 80 million passengers in 2018, targets a carbon-neutral infrastructure by 2050. Energy-saving efforts include a Munters fan upgrade saving 15 GWh annually (equal to 3,400 households' energy use). Munters specialists have led HVAC improvements since 2016.
Recently, Liège Airport modernized its passenger terminal climate control units with the help of Munters. Two extraction units were upgraded, and one fan unit replaced, which significantly reduced electricity consumption and CO2 emissions by 20 tonnes, with ROI in 31 months.
Birmingham Airport, UK's 7th largest, handles 13 million passengers yearly to 150 destinations. When an air handling unit failed in the terminal check-in area, Munters, global leaders in energy efficient air treatment, provided a solution by replacing old belt drive fans with a new FanGrid featuring five high-efficiency EC centrifugal plug fans.
We have done some great work with Munters recently on plug fan upgrades, saving around 1,300,000 kWh of energy a year and there is still more saving to be achieved. Their expertise is second none and they provided exemplary service.
