Improved working safety with IceDry

There was ice build-up problems that compromised the safety of employees working in cold stores with raw fish products. These cold stores are located next to production rooms where the relative humidity exceeds 75-80% RH during daily cleaning. This hot and humid air condenses at the entrance to the cold stores, creating problems like ice on folding doors, floors, and plastic curtains, and snow and ice on roofs and evaporators. Truck drivers working in these areas were frequently experiencing dangerous situations like slipping and truck accidents.

Say goodbye to unwanted ice

Rahbek Fisk A/S contacted Munters A/S for a solution. Based on their experience working on numerous installations in cold stores, Munters A/S´suggested a IceDry-dehumidifier, which was installed in one of the cold stores. After the convincing changes, which could be immediately observed, three more IceDry-units were installed. All Rahbek Fisk A/S cold stores for raw materials are now equipped with the IceDry-equipment. Rahbek Fisk A/S Production Manager Carl Henning Sohl: ”The IceDry-systems have solved some very important safety problems. Today all floors are dry and free of ice, leaving our truck drivers very satisfied. The need for defrosting cold stores has also disappeared. We used to close down the cold stores four times a year for five to six days for defrosting. Nowadays defrosting is only carried out in connection with the planned close-down during summer vacation.” The IceDry-system also ensures evaporators work at a higher capacity. And Rahbek Fisk A/S saves even more money since costly ceiling, wall, floor, and door cleaning is no longer necessary.
