Many industrial processes require hot process air that is free from combustion-process contaminants from the fired heater. Munters indirect air heaters use heat exchangers to keep the combustion process separate from the process air.
Munters indirect heaters are used in coating and spray drying processes and other applications involving sensitive products such as foods, chemicals and pharmaceuticals. They keep the flame enclosed within a sealed combustion chamber and transfer the heat to the air flowing through a heat exchanger. This guarantees that the flame never touches or reacts with the exhaust air. And unlike other types of indirect-fired heaters, they can provide efficiencies up to 95%.
The Munters VariMax once-through heater (OTH) is a high-efficiency, indirect-fired gas heater used to heat industrial process airstreams. It is available in six sizes with efficiencies ranging from 70% to 88%, depending on the flow volume, inlet temperature and firing rate. The VariMax OTH is used in applications such as automotive paint drying, powder coating, recirculating ovens, dryers, makeup-air applications in cold environments, and other industrial processes with moderate temperature increases.
The Munters VariMax indirect-fired recirculating gas (IFRG) is a USDA-certified, high-temperature air heater. It combines a heat exchanger design with indirect heating technologies to deliver contaminant-free process air. Recirculating the combustion gases allows the heater to attain efficiencies up to 95%, temperature increases up to 1,000°F [555°C], discharge temperatures of 1,200°F [649°C], NOx emissions as low as 10ppm, and turndown ratios up to 40:1. Our IFRG heaters are used in the food, chemical and other industries for applications such as spray drying of milk, baby formula and other powders.
